After more than a decade of supplying wine grapes to leading Napa and Sonoma wineries, we felt it was time to make and market our own wine. We hired Larry Langbehn, an experienced winemaker in Northern California whose talents are sought by wine companies from all over the world, including China and Europe. The 2001 harvest led to our Suisun Valley winery's first release.

In the early 1980s, we, Dean and Bunny Frisbie, started visiting
Suisun Valley because it’s only an hour drive north of San Francisco.
Drawn to the tranquility of this rural community, we bought a pear
orchard in 1985. We learned the Suisun Valley climate is perfect for
growing several grape varieties, and since 1989, our pear orchard has
been fully planted over to vineyards, featuring Bordeaux, Burgundy, and
Rhône Valley grapes.
We named Ledgewood Creek Winery after the creek that meanders along the northern border of our estate. Located in the heart of the Suisun Valley American Viticultural Area (AVA), it was the fertile valley soils that attracted us to the Suisun Valley and continues to keep us here today.

United Heart Provides Medical Training
FAIRFIELD — Some rooms in United Heart Training Center look like a hospital, right down to the beds with patients in them.
These patients have liquid flowing in their veins and can shed tears, but they’re not human. They are high-tech mannequins that help nurses, paramedics, doctors and others in the health profession get ready for the real thing.
Dr. Yvonne Lawson-Thomas founded the training center in 2011 in a waterfront Suisun City office building. She recently moved the operation to 420 Executive Court, Suite G in Fairfield.
Business is apparently booming. The new location has 8,000 square feet – twice as much as the Suisun City site – and Lawson-Thomas has filled it up.
NorthBay Medical Center and Kaiser Permanente employees trained at United Heart as the hospitals worked on their trauma center status, Lawson-Thomas said.
“Our center is the only one in the world that stands on its own and we’re not affiliated with anyone,” Lawton-Thomas said. “It’s just me, a single owner, no partners or anything.”
The center has a simulation emergency room with four beds and an infant warmer for premature babies. It has a training room for spinal cord injuries. It has an operating room where the mannequins have a rubber-like skin that doctors can cut into. It has a room for X-ray and ultrasound training. It has an outdoor area where paramedics can train.
Lawton-Thomas was born and raised in Jamaica and came to California in 1960. Her specialties are trauma surgery and cardiology. She worked at David Grant Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base and retired in 2011.
But retirement only meant a new career. Lawton-Thomas disliked the idea of sitting around at home trying to figure out what to do. Instead, she decided to launch a venture that merged her love for medicine with her love for teaching.
The center has other doctors involved besides Lawton-Thomas. Among them are Thomas Lenz of David Grant Medical Center, Michael Allhouse of Children’s Hospital in Madera and retired U.S. Navy Capt. John Bartlett. Courses range from advanced cardiac life support to advanced trauma care for nurses to pediatric advanced life support.

Frustrated at jobs getting shipped overseas, a Madera manufacturer is launching a line of "Made in America" products.
The Nemat Management Group employs 30 people on Road 24 in Madera. Normally, they make machinery that other manufacturers use to make their products, such as grape-processing equipment or machinery that makes solar panels.
But owner Mike Nemat wants to start making products that are often now made in China. The company already is manufacturing the TV Mighty Mount, a metal mounting system for flat-screen TVs. The company will start taking orders on its website soon and hopes to find a retailer to sell the Mighty Mount.
Nemat also is considering making woodworking equipment and theft-proof mailboxes. High quality, simple design and a process with little waste can keep American-made products competitive and costs down, he said.
"I believe in making American products," he said. "I think manufacturing should have stayed in the United States. It shouldn't have gone offshore."

However, should we present a candidate to you and you hire them, you will owe us a fee. The fee is due in its entirety on the day the candidate starts. We offer a 60 day guaranty on the placement and if the candidate leaves within a 60 day period, we replace them at no additional charge. Contingency agreements are not our preferred way of doing business, but we do offer the option.
Retained - This commitment agreement is used when clients have a sense of urgency. When a position needs to be filled within a certain period of time and with a specific type of person, we are obligated through this contract to find the right person in the designated time period. We want you to feel comfortable with bringing on agents we represent.
