Founder's Message - The Academy of 21st Century Learning

The Academy of 21st Century Learning is conveniently located in The Nut Tree Plaza in Vacaville. Your student will love it here—it’s inviting, challenging, safe, and fun! We have a mascot (Sophie the Shih Tzu) and a vibrant team of innovative and caring educators. Our educational games in the lobby even make parents want to get in on the learning, and where else can you write on the walls and tables, all in the name of education?

So how does this all come together? As our model, The Academy of 21st Century Learning uses a framework comprised of four key categories that prepare students for the complex demands of learning in the 21st century.

  • Core Subjects in the 21st Century: All schools pay their respects to the core subjects –math, English, science, etc. –but we take our students to the next level by rigorously emphasizing critical thinking and analysis, creativity, and adaptability in all areas of their lives, whether it’s AP English, basketball, or Yearbook Club.
  • Learning and Innovation Skills: What does Google teach a child? In today’s world, where there are many “right” answers, a search engine may be able to deliver the answer, but that does not mean it is actually capable of instilling the learning and innovation skills necessary for success.
  • Information and Technology: Today’s textbook is a tablet. Although many teens claim to be technologically savvy, we realize the necessary tools for the 21st Century go well beyond being able to install your grandmother’s printer software. To this end, The Academy teaches advanced computing skills—we hold computer programming classes, and our tutors incorporate the use of advanced computational software in their instruction.
  • Life and Career Skills: What happens when school ends and you’re faced with a real-life problem? Can you add it? Format it in MLA? Boil it in a beaker to find a solution? We prepare students life beyond the classroom by pushing them to their limits with challenging problems. The Academy is a place where it’s okay to be wrong. In fact, we embrace it, as no one has ever developed a strong character by solving easy math problems and being right all the time.

Successful tomorrows start at The Academy!

A Box Van Can Do A Lot Of Things Inexpensively - Nor Cal Ford Truck Club

Note: Please turn sound up!

Tom Garcia of Marathon Truck Body shows off a 14' Dry Van Body mounted on an E350 Cutaway Chassis. Check out the Lift-Assist on the cargo ramp! Those things are heavy, but this feature sure makes it easy. Sometimes it is the simplest things that are meaningful, like that sliding door without rattles.

Since a Dry Van Body is just a box on wheels, there is so many modifications that can be made to make it more useful for individual company use, such as, side doors, walk-up side door openings, windows, translucent roof, E-Track, plywood lining, Gelcoat lining with added insulation for refrigeration to just keep things cool or to keep them frozen. Plus there is the ramp as shown, liftgates, railgates, swing-away doors rather than roll-up doors and the list goes on and on.

This video was shot at a Nor Cal Ford Truck Club event in October 2015

About Nor Cal Ford Truck Club:

Our purpose is fulfilled by providing an opportunity and atmosphere for Northern California Ford Dealers to network with like-minded dealers, grow new or expand old friendships, have some good old fashioned fun together, learn a few things that help us in our business, and create partnerships for greater success.

Buyer Testimonial for David Muerle Realtor

(707) 372-0000

Happy buyer testimonial about David Muerle's business and his level of service.

About David Muerle:

I have been a real estate broker for over 20 years, and my business is fueled by referrals from my clients, friends and business associates who trust me to help the people they love with their real estate needs. My goal is to deliver a real estate buying or selling experience that so exceeds their expectations that they cannot wait to introduce me to the people they love when they have real estate needs.

I specialize in residential real estate both for investors as well as homeowners in Northern Solano County. Many customers also ask me to introduce them to a local Realtor in areas that I do not serve personally because I have access to a database of fabulous Realtors throughout the United States. I am very successful at finding great Realtors for customers throughout the United States. I love doing this for clients because I get paid a referral fee by the agent, and I know what questions to ask to get my client connected with the RIGHT Realtor.

I am also a referral resource for service providers in all areas of expertise. I personally use and have customers who use carpet cleaners, contractors, investment advisers, attorneys, insurance agents, party organizers, cleaners, landscapers, and the list goes on and on. Any time you need a referral to a great service provider, contact me and I will get you connected.

The National Ford Truck Club - Helping Ford Professionals Increase Their Effectiveness

Safe Fleet - 2016 - Matt Lewis, inView 360 Degree Camera System

SAFE FLEET demonstrates their inView 360 degree camera system for John Hughes, President of the National Ford Truck Club. With safety as paramount, its key feature is the elimination of blind-spots around the vehicle with a birds-eye view. With a monitor in the cab, the rear and side view mirrors are greatly enhanced when parking, maneuvering in traffic and at the job site. There are four cameras placed around the vehicle...

National Ford Truck Club
http://www.nationalfordtruckclub.com/

The National Ford Truck Club (NFTC) was established in March, 2006, at the National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA) Show in Atlanta, Georgia. Twelve of 18 Regional Truck Clubs sent representatives to the meeting. Much of the talk was focused on how to make Regional Clubs better for members. It was agreed that a National Ford Truck Club could bring Fleet and Commercial Sales Managers; Ford Professionals, together to discuss common challenges relating to our unique role in the vehicle sales business.

The NFTC’s mission is to help all Ford Professionals increase their effectiveness through the exchange of ideas with peers; through education and exposure to resources and procedures used by other successful FordPros. Where there are Regional Clubs, the NFTC works to help them grow and meet the needs in their area.

Four out of five dealerships are located too far from a Regional Club for regular participation by the FordPros in that market. The NFTC wanted to make benefits of a club available to all FordPros at any Ford dealership in the country. To serve this broad group of professionals nationally, the NFTC vowed to build Internet-based tools and resources so the NFTC can offer practical benefits to all FordPros.

FordPros Magazine

FordPros Magazine is the official publication of the National Ford Truck Club. It is published quarterly; Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall, and mailed free to all Ford Fleet and Commercial Managers in the United States.

FordPros Magazine is a collaborative effort and could not be provided to the industry without the support of the National Ford Truck Club Sponsors, Ford Motor Company, National Ford Truck Club members and the National Office.

Get Your Copy of Wendy VanHatten's Newest Novel and 5th Hidden Truths Book, "The Forger's Key" on Amazon!

Once again, Marta and Clark find themselves immersed in intrigue and danger with unscrupulous characters. This time, those characters are determined to eliminate everyone who knows anything about a mess of forged paintings. The forger could have been of assistance ... until he's killed and they're left wondering who is calling the shots.

This is what a few readers had to say:

"Wendy VanHatten's latest addition to her Hidden Truths series, The Forger's Key, number five in the series, is her best yet in my opinion. Each of her offerings gets better and better. The writing is more refined, the story is smoother flowing, and it is always engaging. In fact, they are all hard to put down, keeping one moving along without tiring or losing interest. Marta, Clark, Ian, and the gang are back with some new characters. Loved the newspaper gal who was pure fun and spunk, and maybe, just maybe, someone else got into her car instead of Maxine ... just so I can enjoy her again in the next installment! More romance seems likely too after all the intrigue cools at bit. I thoroughly enjoyed reading them all, but this one is best so far." - Terry M

"Marta, the main character in these novels, is at it again with her traveling, her cat, and her problems. Not to mention the bad guys who keep following her. I'm not sure how she can be so clueless and yet so lucky, but that's why I love her. There's enough suspense and twists to keep readers engaged in the action and with the characters. I really wasn't sure how this one was going to end ... until it did." - Bev M

About the Author:
WENDY VANHATTEN IS a best-selling author, editor-in-chief for Prime Time Living Magazine, travel journalist, wine, food, and travel editor for WEMagazine, and Bay Area Travel Writer Organization board member. Her children's books, the Max and Myron series, teach children to read while developing good character traits. Travel advice and photos are updated weekly on her blog. Her books may be found on Amazon or from her website. www.wendyvanhatten.com

Superior Food Safety Consulting Services

Using “Do the Right Thing” ® proprietary methodology, Superior Food Safety’s expert will visit your site and evaluate your company’s current food safety system against GFSI and regulatory requirements. Using strong analytical skills, the expert will identify any gaps in your existing Food Safety Culture, Food Safety System Designs, and Food Safety Requirements. Once the gap analysis is completed, our expert will recommend specific strategies, forecast systematic issues and create a Project Timeline for the improvement and/or total implementation of a reliable, cost-effective food safety program. Superior Food Safety’s “Do the Right Thing” methodology has been proven successful in helping clients achieve GFSI certification audits with good to excellent scores.

GFSI systems and FSMA

Superior Food Safety assists employees from diverse backgrounds at low and high-risk food manufacturing plants as they implement, manage, and maintain FSMA compliance programs and GFSI systems (SQF, BRC, FSSC2200, IFS, etc.). Our proprietary methodology, Do The Right Thing ® ,is based on core principles of integrity and personal responsibility – the key factors in all successful food safety operations. This unique methodology helps our clients develop and build their own Risk Management Culture ® that forms the foundation of all future safety endeavors in their organization.

Step One
GFSI / FSMA Gap Analysis
The first step toward compliance is the evaluation of your current food safety programs against FSMA or GFSI system requirements. This involves an extensive review of your documents, building, processing equipment, employee practices, current food safety system design, and company culture. This process gives us a big picture understanding of the gaps in your system and helps identify exactly where change needs to be implemented to meet industry and government safety standards.

Step two
System Design
The gap analysis provides the information needed to determine if your company requires re-designation of food safety responsibilities. It is important that responsibilities are aligned with each manager’s job description and line of command. Clearly defined responsibilities and a well-designed chain of command foster personal accountability and system-wide success.

Step Three
Budget Evaluation
It is also crucial that managers know how to correctly calculate the budget for a comprehensive food safety system. Superior Food Safety helps you anticipate and budget for capital projects, building and equipment updates, consulting services, training, and other system necessities. Clearly identifying these costs is the first step to ensure that senior management commits the required resources for the success of the implementation phase.

Step Four
Project Timeline
Once the responsibilities are designated and the resources allocated, Superior Food Safety builds the project timeline and recommends a deadline to meet FSMA compliance or achieve GFSI certification. In this phase, your company will designate a Project Manager and a GFSI or FSMA Steering Management Team that will be meeting on a regular basis to follow up on project status for support and accountability. It is crucial that senior management be represented on this team as a demonstration of management commitment.

Step Five
Collaborative Project Website
Superior Food Safety’s role in the execution phase is to provide support and technical guidance. Your company owns and executes the system. We have developed a state-of-the-art collaborative web-based system linked to companies’ and consultants’ e-mails that allows real-time tracking of project status, online training, and review of documents. This collaborative, project management site ensures everyone’s accountability and support.

Step Six
Management Training
Superior Food Safety will deliver customized training on how to use the website and other tools for tracking and maintaining selected FSMA or GFSI standards. Each manager responsible for each task must gain a perfect understanding of the execution phase.

Step Seven
Project Execution
The team will start the execution of the project after all the previous steps have been completed. Superior Food Safety’s role will be to support, guide, review and approve documentation as needed. We are also available to execute internal audits, HACCP reviews and validation and verification procedures.

A Bit of History

Don Westhaver has been working on cars in Vallejo for over 35 years and was shop foreman for the Mercedes-Benz, Porsche dealer in Vallejo for 15 years. He was the recipient of the rare and coveted Star Technician award from the Mercedes-Benz factory. Don also has a great deal of Porsche factory training and has the Audi/VW Quality Control award as well. When that dealership closed, Don decided to go out on his own.

We moved to Vacaville 9 years ago and it began to make more sense to move our business to Vacaville. In January, 2008 we opened for business at our current location. We have been busy ever since with very little advertising and are very pleased that we made the move.

How We Feel About Business

The auto repair business doesn't have the  best reputation, so we go the extra mile to build trust. That includes taking extra time to really explain what your car needs and why. Our goal is to give professional, friendly, honest service without the stress and hassle of going to the dealer. We will never sell you something you don't need.

Don't Wait to Find Out the Condition of Your Commercial Building - Get an Inspection from SitePro!

362 Gulf Breeze Parkway, #214
Gulf Breeze, FL 32561
850-934-6800

Commercial Inspections

Whether you own, lease, or are purchasing a building, don’t wait to find out the condition of the building and its systems. It is a pretty good hunch that this property was a major investment and the last thing you want are more costs. After all, no one likes surprises. That’s why an inspection is intended to tell you the condition of the building and property–and, reduce your risk.

A SitePro inspection is an objective review of your building and property. Knowing the condition of a building will allow you to budget more accurately and provide for expenditures in the future — whether it’s a new roof, HVAC or simply maintenance related items. Not knowing this information, or worse yet guessing, can have major consequences.

  • What condition are the building’s systems and components in?
  • What costly defects are there which require attention now?
  • What expenditures will be required to repair, maintain or replace items in the near future?

If you can’t answer these questions about the property you’re planning to buy or lease, you probably should consider an inspection before buying the property.

Buying a building and property is a very anxious time filled with doubts, deadlines and so on. Reducing or removing uncertainties can make your real estate transaction go smoother. The same holds true when you lease, by knowing the condition of the building and property from the outset. Estimating future repair costs and the replacement of building components and systems requires an inspection to determine their current condition. With this information estimated life spans can be ascertained along with the related costs to repair, maintain or replace items.

What Type of Commercial Properties are Typically Inspected?

We inspect commercial buildings of all shapes and sizes. For example:

  • Shopping Centers & Strip Malls
  • Office Buildings, Apartments & Condominiums
  • Light Industrial Properties
  • Religious & Institutional Properties
  • Recreational Facilities & Sports Complexes

What Does SitePro Look For?

The Lessler Group - Professional Business Services

The Lessler Group Mission:
To provide professional business services and support to our clients, adding to the reputation and value of each.

Our Values:
To maintain the highest ethical standards and practices while developing new customers for The Lessler Group and its clients.

Our Purpose:
The Lessler Group represents clients who are professional service providers to public agencies and the business community in the greater Solano County area. We feel strongly that these service providers are the "best of class" in each of their respective markets. This is the hallmark of our success - that businesses and municipalities working with The Lessler Group and its clients can be assured of the highest levels of professional excellence available in the region.

Who We Are:
The Lessler Group was founded in 2001 to establish mutually beneficial business-to-business relationships for its clients. President Steve Lessler has earned a solid reputation as a community leader in Solano County and is well positioned to effect successful vendor-client relationships:

• Has held appointed and elected public positions 1987 to 2001 – one term as Fairfield Planning Commissioner, two terms as Fairfield City Councilman (two years as Vice-Mayor), seven years as Board member for the Solano Transportation Authority, two as Chairperson.

• Currently holds Board membership for charitable and business organizations; Fairfield-Suisun Rotary, Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce, Solano EDC, Chairman of the Board for The Salvation Army, Solano County Region.

• Is an active member of the Fairfield-Suisun, Vallejo, Benicia and Vacaville Chambers of Commerce as well as Solano EDC.

• 2013-2014 Chair of the Board for the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce. "I’m not sure how many Board Chairs declare a “slogan” for their term, but as I pondered what I wanted to accomplish during my term, I could not help but focus on the idea of “doing business locally”.  In our Chamber we have the breadth and depth of businesses in almost every category, and the ability to utilize these resources whenever possible before going outside the Chamber to find the services and products we need to run our respective businesses. To be honest, I consider all of Solano County to be local, and if we want to maintain a healthy local business economy, it is my strong belief that we should look to our Chamber and our County first, and only then reach outside if we are unable to meet our needs here.  Call your Chamber; ask which members might provide the services you are looking for. You might be surprised at how deep the local resources are."

Steve has lived in Solano County for over thirty years with his wife Becky and two sons, Kyle and Evan. He attended the University of California at Berkeley for his Bachelors degree in Psychology and went on to attend Golden Gate University in San Francisco for an MBA, concentration in Logistics. During the first twenty years of his career he worked in distribution and production management, concentrating in the last twelve years on Solano County marketing and business development.
