EMT Programs at United Heart Training Center

Learn more information HERE

EMT Certification Course:

Learn to become in EMT in our state-of-the-art simulation center. Our 6 week full time and 10-week part time courses offer you the opportunity to begin a career in emergency medicine by providing an outstanding technical and practical learning experience. We work with hospitals, ambulance companies, and fire departments to ensure that you will get the most out of the State-required clinical hours. You will get experience not only in how the different emergency medicine providers function individually, but also how they function in concert in emergency settings.

UHTC instructors include physicians, nurses, paramedics, and EMTs with BLS Transport, hospital and 911 experience. Our instructors wrote the book on EMT, literally, with several of us contributing to major Emergency Medical Services (EMS) publications in use today, including our course textbook.

Our courses require less time than those offered by most community colleges and adult education centers, but provide more instruction than “accelerated” EMT courses, which traditionally have a lower success rate both in the course and in the national certification exams. We feel this balance gives students the best opportunity to learn and be successful. Completion of the course enables students to take the national examination administered by the NREMT, which is required by the State of California before certification as an EMT.

EMT Refresher Course:

This course is designed for currently certified EMTs who need continuing education units and skills testing for recertification.

Our 24-hour course combines lecture and skills components with the latest equipment available in the EMT field and will refresh your skills and provide updated information. Our instructors are all experienced EMTs and Paramedics.

After successful completion of this course, the student will receive 24 CEUs and be awarded a completed California EMT Skills Competency Verification Form (EMSA-SCV 08/10) and the appropriate skills verification for the NREMT.

This course meets California recertification and transition course requirements. Additional CEUs are required for NREMT recertification.

UHTC also offers a 1 day EMT Skills Verification for those needing to re-certify.

What Our Program Covers

United Heart Training Center’s EMT program meets or exceeds all requirements of the State of California and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) examination standards. We are approved by Solano County’s EMS agency, and are proudly affiliated with Solano College, NorthBay Hospital, and several other clinical experience providers. The course includes approximately 200 hours of training, including lecture, skills practice, and enrichment activities (such as field trips and guest lecturers).

United Heart Training Center’s EMT Certification program covers all areas of emergency response and care, including (but not limited to):

  • Assessing patients to determine the nature and severity of an illness or injury
  • Performing life-saving treatments in the field and during transport
  • Using and maintaining the ambulance and patient care equipment
  • Managing emergency scenes and personnel
  • Comforting and reassuring patients and family members
  • Assisting paramedics in treatment of patients requiring a higher level of care
  • Creating accurate and complete documentation for each patient contact

Before graduation, students must successfully complete a minimum of 24 clinical hours. Our contracts with local hospitals, ambulance companies, and fire departments ensure that every student will have numerous opportunities to complete their required 10 patient contacts during these hours.

Requirements

Pre-Admission Requirements for the EMT Certification Course:

To enroll in the UHTC EMT program, you must meet the following prerequisites before you can begin the course. Most are mandated by law, or are required by providers (hospitals and emergency rooms) so that you can complete the State-required clinical hours:

  • Be 18 years of age by the first day of class.
  • Complete a medical exam (contact us for exact requirements before your exam).
  • Provide documentation of required immunizations.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Attend a mandatory orientation class (approximately three hours)

Admission Requirements for the EMT Refresher Course:

To qualify for the EMT Refresher Course, you must hold a valid EMT Certification, that must not have expired more than 6 months prior to taking the Refresher Course. There are no exceptions.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is an EMT?

An EMT is a healthcare professional trained to provide emergency care to sick and injured patients. EMTs care for emergency and non-emergency patients, transport patients to hospital emergency rooms and other healthcare facilities (e.g. dialysis, wound care), and assist with large scale incidents. As an EMT you will usually work as part of a team of responders who together ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

What can I do as an EMT?

There are many jobs available to Emergency Medical Technicians. Most EMTs begin by working on an ambulance, often starting with BLS transport before moving into the 911 system. EMTs also work as Emergency Medical Dispatchers (a 911 operator), as security guards, in refineries or other manufacturing plants, in law enforcement, or as emergency room technicians in hospitals. EMT is also a prerequisite to work for most fire departments in California. After working in the field, most EMTs go on to attain more education in medicine by attending Nursing school or becoming a paramedic.

A Box Van Can Do A Lot Of Things Inexpensively - Nor Cal Ford Truck Club

Note: Please turn sound up!

Tom Garcia of Marathon Truck Body shows off a 14' Dry Van Body mounted on an E350 Cutaway Chassis. Check out the Lift-Assist on the cargo ramp! Those things are heavy, but this feature sure makes it easy. Sometimes it is the simplest things that are meaningful, like that sliding door without rattles.

Since a Dry Van Body is just a box on wheels, there is so many modifications that can be made to make it more useful for individual company use, such as, side doors, walk-up side door openings, windows, translucent roof, E-Track, plywood lining, Gelcoat lining with added insulation for refrigeration to just keep things cool or to keep them frozen. Plus there is the ramp as shown, liftgates, railgates, swing-away doors rather than roll-up doors and the list goes on and on.

This video was shot at a Nor Cal Ford Truck Club event in October 2015

About Nor Cal Ford Truck Club:

Our purpose is fulfilled by providing an opportunity and atmosphere for Northern California Ford Dealers to network with like-minded dealers, grow new or expand old friendships, have some good old fashioned fun together, learn a few things that help us in our business, and create partnerships for greater success.

Stop By And Check Out Julz Ice Cream & Candy!

Julz Ice Cream and Candies, formerly known as Naidu’s Ice cream has been a family owned business in West Sacramento for the past 23 years. We are a wholesale Novelty warehouse specializing in brand names like Blue Bunny, Good Humor, Its It, Nestle, Haagen Dazs, Wonder, Foster Farms, Ben & Jerry’s, M & M Mars, Delicias, and Rich’s to name a few.  We serve the local ice cream truck vendors, mini marts, schools, Churches, Company picnics, and General Public in any event that needs ice cream.

My father, Mr. Naidu started as an ice cream vendor on the streets of Dixon, California, 30 years ago.  We all grew up selling ice cream on the streets of Dixon.  As soon as we got our driver’s license, our father gave us an ice cream truck to teach us responsibility and the value of a hard earned dollar.  Even till this day, we are known as THE ICE CREAM family in Dixon.  I remember throwing candies out from the trucks at the Dixon Mayfair Parade.  Good times!!!

Today our pride and joy is this wholesale novelty warehouse, which is operated by husband Ravi, my two son’s Shivam and Avineet and myself, Julz.  We are open seven days a week from 8am to 1pm, weather permitting.  Our hours change for the winter months. But whether hot or cold, ice cream is a treat that everyone loves to eat, stop by and check us out!!!!
